Also, backup requires alot of db interaction (insert, commit,
calculate/build file aggregates, etc.), whereas migration just moves from
disk pool to tape... so, migration of 350 MB should be much faster --
notwithstanding tape mount and positioning (which, for DLT, can be several
minutes).

You are right, ksh script won't work -- BUT a compiled C program does work,
with SUID.

Hi All,
I want to archive my Oracle database file through TSM ( Rel 4.1on HP 11)
without using the RMAN ( Orcale utility). Right now I am archiving
individual database files from each mount point. I have around 250 files
totaling 100gb and I give following command for each file ( sequentially in
Gretchen,
Did you get an APAR number for that problem? I have a customer wanting to
install 5.1, will want to forewarn them if they will need to run audit
before upgrade.
I saw IC28431, but that was for DLT devclass only, resolved at the 4.1.1.0
code level (and it only applied to NT platform).
Hi all
Here's the scenario:

Very close :) Actually not DSMSERV_DIR but current directory where the
server is started. Usually rc.adsmserv script changes to the directory

gets there when server is started from /etc/inittab. If you halt the
server and
Great(?) news, FYI... the new SHOW LOGPINNED command is included in a
4.2.2 patch level (4.2.2.1) -- so now we can see who's gottit, and maybe
free things up before the server crashes!

This is supposed to be true but Tivoli had some cases with 4.2.1 where that
was not true. If you are a site like ours where we will probably have 30 to
50 SAN Managed Clients, it becomes nearly impossible to rollout the release
upgrade.

Is this issue only for this specific upgrade, or migration from 4.1 to 5.1
can cause similar problems? It will good to have the APAR number.

It will not rebind deleted files unless you recreate the file again.

What controls the number of TDP for Oracle Sessions that get spawned during an Oracle
