I am trying to use the web client to issue a restore for a NAS NDMP backup
on a Windows 2000 5.2.2.10 client and an AIX 5.2 TSM 5.2.2.5 server. I
drilled down to the file that I wanted to restore, but when I go to choose
a specific location for where to restore the file it only allows
we have a TSM server under AIX 5.1 and a client AIX under SAN network.
when we make a backup of the file sytem /main we get this message :

If it's running as an application, endtask on the application name.

I guess I should have expanded my statment that we tried various "kill"
processes *AFTER* we tried the basic taskmanager stopping of the process.
TaskManager "end process" did not work !.

I solved the problem.
I get the data back in the original pool by MOVE NODEDATA from the wrong pool to the
right pool.

As far as I am aware, restoring or tracking of individual files within a
file system image is not supported unless the 'toc' option was used to
perform the backup.

Are there any cronned / scheduled scripts that may be issuing the
cancels?
Do you have anything that automatically cancells sessions if their
throughput drops?

Do they fail in a particular time period ? Could there be a bottleneck of
some sort ?
Try spreading out the backups i.e don't have too many running at one
time.

while my command script is starting up forceing backup from disk pools to
tape. That sometimes seems to be a intensive procedure for TSM while it is

That's problematic, in that filespaces are not assigned to management
classes - file system objects are, and for a given file system, its
directories and files are often spread over multiple

expiration process. Probably need EXPQUIET NO in the DSMSERV.OPT file. It'll
at least get you down to which node/filespace is using a management class,
but not lower than that unless you're willing to query on the BACKUPS
