As Mark stated, there is now a new VTL (Virual Tape Libary) that IBM sells. I
believe it was announced in October. Here is a link

The latest VTS from IBM does not run TSM under the covers. I'm not sure if you
are thinking about VTS (Virtual Tape System) or something else like a Document
Management system.

Here's the problem. Notice how it complains it can't open

I've worked with that product and it "appeared" pretty decent.

I don't believe so. I change my password after it expire. I then was
able to change it back to the original password. This was for a admin
account.

Hi Lawrence,
Does /tmp have enough free space to hold the boot image?
Does a bosboot -a give the same results?
Is the rootvg mirrored? Any stale partitions then?
Met vriendelijke groet, With kind regards,

Hi;
I'm trying to install TSM 5.3.0.0 on 2 new p550 9113 machines to replace
our current machines.
I have AIX 5.3.2 installed.
I tried to install TSM, and got the following. I talked to IBM, and they
said they thought it might be a problem with TSM, but I don't see how.

Dilligent's VTF open or Protectier solution is highly impressive and
works seamlessly with TSM. I cant fault it at present! If you would
like, I can put you in touch with an independent consultant who could
advise you further?

I would not consider using IBM VTS as a possible solution. The VTS
internally also runs ADSM. If the tape volumes you want is not on
cache, the VTS has to retrieve it from tape, place it on disk cache
prior to sending it to the servers. This takes time. My VTS emulates
IBM 3490E cartridge tapes.
We currently use several TB of san based disk storage for our daily
backups which gets migrated during the day to multiple tape libraries.
The san disk administration has become a nightmare and I was thinking of
replacing it with a VTS from IBM or other disk library such as one from
EMC. Do you g
Hello TSM'ers
I wonder whether anybody can help out with this question. I am being asked
by one of my customers as to whether TSM keeps a history of previous

certain period of time.
I've looked in all the usual TSM referenc

Hi, Luc !
We are planing to involve a second TL, and change from 3583with lto2 to a
new TL with lto3. And new tapes with higher capacity.
We decided to do a soft migration: No move data from tape to tape, instead
any scratch volume will be a new one
so data will be written step by step from old to
