I have used DRM commands just to manage DB backups in some cases, without moving around copypool volumes. Just identify the volumes you wish to work with and specify volume names with your move drm commands. I use a small script to query the volhist t=dbb and identify the volume names to manage

I did the same thing. Our main TSM server was ADSM on MVS/zOS and we migrated to AIX/Linux. I too had issues with the lack of tape management features like offsite tape vault/slot management, especially since we have 5-servers sending tapes offsite into different areas of the same physical vault.
