I am trying to track down why certain DB2 to TSM backups are failing rather
regularly. I don't believe it's a TSM issue and would point the finger at DB2
not being able to quiesce the datafiles in question etc.
However, where do I find logging for this kind of thing? Is there a

If i remember correctly, there is a variable called DSMI_LOG in the TSM
client which allows for logging. On the server where DB2 resides:

database may still be in use?
In the environment i worked, in C:\SQLLIB\BIN, run command: DB2CMD

I am trying to do a fresh install of the latest TSM and Domino TDP clients
on a SPARC Solaris 10 box. Never had any TSM clients installed.
I did the base client (5.5.0.1) and API. No big deal or issues so far.
I then went to the instructions for the TDP install. It says to install

Either way, I took this opportunity to push folks to get off 5.3 since IBM

Does Linux client version 5.4.12 support Journal-based backup? The
section of the 'UNIX and Linux' client manual titled 'Configuring the
Journal Daemon' says "Journal-based backup is supported on AIX
clients for JFS, JFS2 and Vxfs file system types." (page 56). Is

The fastest backup I can get from a Win2003 server, TSM 5.4.0.4 client, to
an AIX TSM server, 5.4.0.0 is 17Mb/sec. over GigE with a dedicated 2nd nic
for backup only. I'd like to hear from others who are getting better

Forgot to mention; the backups/restores are on separate, dedicated
interfaces on both client and server, all at 1Gb full.
