Hi,
A library has 4 tape drives. Can I assign the drives to more than one
storage pools. One stg could be primary and another copy or active pool. I
need to get the maximum performance during backup using all drives and then
copy them in a lower speed to another pools.
Thanks

Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone is running TSM V6.1.3.1 on an IBM server similar to a
p5 p570? I definitely need more memory for V6, since I only have 8GB and the
documentation says the minimum memory for all but the tiniest server should be
12 GB, 16 GB if using deduplication. I'm considerin
Eric,
I have a couple of options for you. I am not sure of your
background, mine is non-technical, so if any of this sounds foolishly
obvious, I apologize.
First, TSM is not natively SQL. The SQL tables that these
queries run on are created from the underlying B Tree db (pre 6.*
I also changed the device drivers from IBM Tape Drivers to the TSM Device
Driver just to see what would happen...but the error persists

Hi Fred,
I´ve checked the codes on the Messages manual.but I am not sure what does
it mean anyway
I was performing a MOVE DATA and TSM is putting the source tape at DRIVE02 and
the destination tape at DRIVE01.which is the one with this error

Geoff,
There are 2 drives defined.DRIVE01 and DRIVE02.
DRIVE02 is connected via SCSI cable to the SCSI controller at the TSM Server.
DRIVE01 is connected to DRIVE02 (cascade) and has a SCSI termination on it.

How are these drives connected? Have you done any port/cable swapping to see if
the problem moves?

Gents, you've been very helpful on previous issues, I'm hoping for help
on one more.
I'm trying to setup a windows server with the SAN Client (5.5.3.0 due to
TSM Server being at that level).
According to tsmdlst the devices for the drives (17 & 18) are mt0.0.0.3
and mt1.0.0.3. However, e
I have never worked with Vista.
Have you tried running from the TSM Scheduler service as a
troubleshooting test?
Can you do manual backups?

I'm finally stumped.
Installed a client on a vista machine.
Set up the scheduler to be managed by the accepter.
All went ok until the backup.
I always get status of missed.
Tried the steps in the "using tsm scheduling through a firewall" technot with
no success.
All ports appear to be open, ma

Thanks everyone. Got exactly what I wanted.
1 other question is, is there a way to tell how many objects were added to the
DB a day/week by server.
Thanks

Hi Bill,
Recreate a storage groups with the same name and database names
as the old storage group. Make sure the names exactly match,
including upper/lower case.
Change the properties of the databases by checking the box that says:

They have EXCHANGE09 server already built and in the same Exchange "domain",
Hi Richard,
thanks for your reply!
When running from the command line it now gives the expected results.
Thanks and have a nice weekend

How did you invoke it? A null file will result if the client invocation was
via the GUI, per Technote 1195708.
