Here's one to try, not sure if it will work..
On the TSM server, before you restore,
TSMSRV: rename filespace nodename / /rescue
Then on the client just: dsmc restore /rescue
rename it back when it is done.

Hi Jeanne,
I do not know specific root cause, but in several reported cases, the
following approach has been known to resolve the issue:
Reboot, and see if that clears the issue.
If that does not clear the issue, run fsck against the file system and see
if that clears the issue.
If that still
I ran a dynamic trace using options
service,session,sessverb,verbinfo,verbdetail,error.
The only thing that stands out in the trace file is:
09/12/2014 11:06:11.109 [014506] [2874971936] : pscomtcp.cpp( 850):
psIsSocketReady(): is timed out!

Do you have a stale or stuck CIFS mount? Check the output of mount, as it
may not show up in df (stale NFS mounts will usually hang df, but I've
seen CIFS mounts that are only reported by mount when they're stale).

Do you happen know why TSM spits out those errors on a filesystem that is
actually mounted elsewhere?
I mean, is the solution to just exclude the filesystem or am I missing
something in tsm or the options file that could tell TSM to ignore any mounted
filesystems??

A bad mount can cause a ‘df’ command to hang, and general file systems list
processing via system calls to have problems.
Make sure that your computer systems have monitoring to catch these things, to
prevent general functionality problems.

In case you missed it...
Tivoli Storage Manager and FlashCopy Manager added some significant
new functions in TSM 7.1.1 and FCM 4.1.1 that are available for download
starting today (Sept. 12, 2014).
If you missed the IBM announcement letter, here it is:
Tried to upgrade to the 7.1.1 VE from the FTP site. Figured I didn't need a
license because I already have one from the V7.1.0 install. Now, when I try to
run an incremental:
ANS2888E Backup VM Full VM Incremental is unable to run.
