Hello,
I would like to verify the answer to a question I have regarding
Tivoli's TDP v5.x for Exchange and Exchange2000 (or Exchange 2003)
servers. Our environment is AD, with Window 2000 member servers running
exchange 2000 (or Exchange 2003).
I am pretty sure that this TDP is ONLY
Hello,
I was wondering if any one might be able to give me some heads up
regarding the TSM's Exchange 2000 TDPAny version to stay away from?
What can or can't it do, etc.
Thanks,

Hello,
Has anyone seen an issue with Windows 2003 SP1 and TSM 5.2.3
missing due to no response from client to the server? The server's logs
report that the session times out and can not communicate with target
(my W2K3 server). However the Client's DSMSched.log file reports that it
is
the control panel for the firwall settings. You may need to
enable the ports that TSM uses or setup the client port option.

I have been reading this thread from the beginning, and I just wanted to
place my two cents in here :-)Veritas actually wrote the code for
MS long ago. MS has adopted the basic backup-exec code and improved on
it a bit..This being right from both MS and Veritas techs...

Joe ,
There are two things that I would add to this. They are as follows:
Step #1 = If this is a member server in AD, then I would re-install W2K as
the same machine name but DO NOT install it into the AD domain. I install it
to a workgroup 1st with the same machine name. Why? because
Jacques,
Sorry I got to this late, I hope you do not mind I reply directly,
besides, its faster this way and I know you will see the answer.
Before this question gets answered, a few questions:
1.) Is the entire AD corrupt? why are you trying to restore only one DC's
AD. I ask this
Ed,
Recovering a DC in AD in the case of a hardware failure, and too the
same server (if not same server, see this Q249694) should be a semi-simple
task, if you have more than 2 DC holding the AD (hopefully 3 or more), and
hopefully more than 1 of them is a GC (either 2 or 3, or even all
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone might help shed some light on these
questions. I can not find a specific answer anywhere
Scenario:
- Using TSM 5.1x
- also tried using NTBackup on W2K DC
- 12 DC's - all DC's are fine, AD NOT corrupt, syncing just fine.

Hello,
Is any one using the TDP from TSM 5.1x? If so can any one verify if it does
the following?
1.) Backup up the users individual mailbox (brick level) directly to a PST
file, so that I do not have to have a hot spare and so that I do NOT have to
use Exmerge. [if this is true, then all I would

Daniel,
I have spoken to TSM Tech Support both by phone and through this
list serve. They have all said, TSM does not support BMR, nor did they or
anyone else have options for this. How is it that you have come up with this
information and no one else has?

Mephi,
I have spoken with TSM Engineers and with those here on this list

not support a BMR, however they do give restore steps that can be used
in a disaster recovery way to obtain your system objects and file

I do not know if any one has responded to you on this yet , but, It sounds
like your asking 2 separate questions
1.) How does TSm handle open files
2.) How to Include the system object/system state objects in the DSM.opt
file
Answer:
#1.) As far as I know, TSM doesn't backup open files,
up the system state (DOMAIN ALL-LOCAL
will do it). For a DC I would recommend running MS Backup of System State
as insurance.

All of my restores were to exact same h/w.
You just have to be sure to be backing up the system state (DOMAIN

will do it). For a DC I would recommend running MS Backup of System State

Paul,
Is this question based on the upgrade to the Server software or
the client backup/restore software.

Has anyone ever done a disaster recovery/restore of their Win2000 AD

Hi,
If you are speaking of the DSM.OPT file then here is a suggestion.
You need to first define the DOMAIN which is actually the partition you
want to address = Domain C or D or E, etc...then you need to include/exclude
(which ever your logic requires) everything first, then

I have a few questions:
1.) What and or how are you doing brick Level Layer Backups and more
importantly, Restores on your exchange 5.5 user mailboxes?
