skipping unavailable/offsite tape

I occassionally get a job like a migration that would request to write to tape that is offsite. The process (migration Job) continues after 60 minutes or so and starts writing to another tape. Is there a way I can tell that job to skip a tape once I determine that the tape is offsite.
