Jozef,
The TDP for Oracle documentation says that the TDP for Oracle will not work
with PASSWORDACCESS=generate (see the options section under Part 2 of the
chapter on configuring the TDP).

Hi,
I've a question about storage pool backup. We have various onsite primary
storage pools and two offsite copy storage pools, (in case of media failure
during DR restore). Hence the copy pools contents are the same. Currently
our morning housekeeping backs up the primary pools to each copy poo
I think the activity log is normally held inside the TSM database not as a
separate file hence increasing the length of time you keep it for will
impact on your database volume usage.

the old one did. Then take a step back and look for ways to improve it.

Hi,
We are replacing our existing TSM server with a new one and I have a
question about storage pool configuration.
Currently our TSM server is running on the same RS6000 as our main Oracle
databases using a STK L700 tape silo connected directly to the RS6000. The
TSM server also backs up anothe
CAP when you insert a tape in it and whether this is
done before the checkin command is issued?
You help is greatly appreciated,

We have a L700 with TSM on AIX and we just put the tapes in the CAPs and
then do a checkin from bulk and then reply to the request as per normal.
Incidentally we also had major problems with our L700 like Robin has had
below. I don't know if it would help but you could try redefining the

Hi,
For the people who are already trying out TSM 5.1.5 ... do you have install
media for 5.1.5 or are you patching onto 5.1.0? ... I ask because we are
building a new TSM server at (hopefully) 5.1.5 but IBM have sent us 5.1.0
media ...

All,
We are (finally) doing some upgrades to our TSM system to bring it up to
date (and onto a support version of the software). We are planning to go
from 3.7.4.0 to 5.1.5.x.
Now we will be implementing the new TSM server on a new physical server and
using new tape hardware (IBM 3584). Then we
People,
Anybody have any ideas on how we can fix the following. We have Oracle
8.1.7.0 backing up to TSM 3.7.4 using TDP for Oracle 2.1.0.9 under AIX 4.3.3
ML8.
Backup fails with the error message as below after approximately 2hrs and
errpt indicates that Oracle core dumps at this time as well.
Hi.
We are running a rather back level collection of TSM software and are
hitting a problem with backing up one of our databases. We have an RS6000

idea to put the TSM server on the same server as the databases and this i
Hi all,
I've got to work out some specifications for some new servers and I'm
looking for a bit of advice for what works with what.
OS: Either AIX 5.1 (latest ML) 64bit or HP-UX 11i 64bit (*)
Database: Oracle 9.2 64bit
Backup: TSM for Databases (Oracle) and File level client (latest levels).

We have a L700 silo used by TSM on AIX and had it upgraded to the maximum
number of slots it will take about 8 months ago.

I believe this is because the directory structure of TSM changed between
versions 3.1 & 3.7 so you will have to reconfigure the db2 client.

Hi,
We have been using UDB5 backing up online to ADSM 3.1 for the last couple of
years on AIX ... unfortuantly we've just upgraded to TSM 4.2 and UDB 7.2 and
now ir does work (PMR with IBM/Tivoli I type...) ...
so YMMV
