Out of curiosity, had the data been DeDuped when it was on the Disk, before it
was migrated to tape, and then moved back to disk?
We saw many problems with data corruption and damaged files when this was done
with a TSM server prior to 6.3.3.

You can try audit of the various volumes.
Also, if you are using Deduplication, there is a know problem of TSM losing the
source data on versions prior to 6.3.2.01.

For a Library to do its own audit, then yes you want to take the drives
offline. However, you will need one drive online and empty when you want TSM
to synchronize its Library audit with the physical library audit.

I had this same issue, and I set the copy storage pools to collacated, and
one by one did a move data on the volumes, then I simply deleted the volumes
which contained data from the nodes I no longer wanted in the storge pool.
If you want you can then turn collocation off.

then you only have to ensure there are scratch tapes in the library. What
would be the reason for setting the number lower other than migrating to
other storage pools?

cases TSM always backed up every file after a Legato or Backup Exec backup.

I just used export/import to move a server from AIX to W2K. I did not get
the storage pools , but that may be because I did not have the device
classes named the same. I also did not get the scripts. But all other
definitions came across.

Once a process begins which requires a tape that TSM "thinks" is available, that
process will not end until the tape is mounted. I'm assuming that the tape was
checked out with out using the MOVE command. When you have DRM use the MOVE
command to checkout your tapes.
