Hello,
I try to secure the TSM web client (CAD) by implementing SSL. It seems that
it's not available in 5.5.1 client version and more.
Does anyone have success running the web client GUI through stunnel or
another software?
I managed to run the admin server GUI without any worries, but the web
Hi Mathieu,
The web client is using 3 TCP ports, and 2 of these port are random ones
by default.
In order to have it running through a TCP tunnel, you need to define
fixed TCP ports in the client options file. See the HTTPPORT and the
WEBPORTS client options.

Hi *SM'ers,
A customer has recently upgraded client versions on AIX machines running
AIX 4.3 and 5.3.
TSM server is v5.3.2 on z/OS 1.7
After upgrading the AIX 5.3 servers to the TSM 5.4.1 or 5.5 client, trying
to logon to the client using the web interface gives;

Hi, Matthew -
I haven't run into that before, but my guess would be that the TSM
client is having trouble identifying the peer, probably because the
10.x.x.x private net address is not DNS reverse-lookupable into a
host/node name. TSM 5.2 changed IP address handling a bit, in
concert with the

Hi Guys,
I'm at a bit of a loss here - has anyone come across something similar

Hey Leigh,
Looks like a good hit, so it may well be - I'll check with the host and
feed back.
Now why on earth did that not show up when *I* did a search...?

Hi there,
I've just upgraded an AIX 5.3 box from 5.3.4.0 to the 5.3.4.3 client.
From that moment, the Web-client wouldn't start, with an error message
that it was unable to start dsmagent.
Indeed, dsmagent wouldn't even start from the command line:
$ dsmagent
Could not load program dsmagent:
Hallo TSM'ers,
Does anyone know if you can do this;
We run our unix TSM client backups using 4 different servername=
stanza's in the dsm.sys file. A single stanza may specify a different
node-name or include-exclude list to use.
Currently, general restore requests are handled through the web
systems.

We do the following interactively but you should be able to parameterise it in a
command file. The exact options may vary but you get the idea:
DSMCUTIL INSTALL CAD /NAME:"TSM Client Acceptor" /NODE:clientname /PASSWORD:
password /VALIDATE:YES /AUTOSTART:YES /STARTNOW:NO
