Actually, the tape will go into error often after the tape is inserted into the drive and validated and checked. The error seems to occur while the tape is being place by the gripper back onto the rack. I have even had the same error occur to abend the service yet still check the tape in

I am running TSM 4.1.3 server on a Win2000 machine. That machine is connected to an IBM3494 tape library over ethernet. The 3494 contains three fibre attached 3590E1A drives that talk to the TSM server over an IBM 6109 SAN switch. I have added thirty tapes to the ATL that are the new J tapes
