During the restore dsmserv uses the directory you're in to create registry

The key is the device config file. The devclass is defined there with the
directory path. Volume name is only the file name part.
Example: to restore DB from the file c:\tsmfiles\dev_file\12345678.DBB you
need following
dsmserv restore db dev=file vol=12345678.DBB
and devclass named FILE with

Could someone please send me the syntax of the "dsmserv restore db" command
to restore a backup of a database which was written to a file, in a file
devclass? Thanks!.
Hi TSMers.
I became a victim of the RESTORE DB problem from an IBM3494 library with AIX
TSM 4.2.1.9.
It came as a surprise because with TSM 3.7.2 we had to do numerous DB
restores for real with the Activity Log full to the brim type problem.
I guess I should pay more attention to the postings
a further APAR to the problem:
APAR Identifier .. IC31865 Last Changed 01/11/09
UNABLE TO USE 3494 LIBRARY FOR RESTORE DB. HAVE TO DEFINE DRIVE
WITHIN 3494 AS TYPE MANUAL TO COMPLETE DB RESTORE.
Symptom .. IN INCORROUT Status ... CLOSED PER
Severity
I had the same problem last week and it turned out that my cable connection
from the exabyte to the server was not seeded correctly. Once I connected
correctly it my restore db worked for me.
Hope this helps.

devconfig file using the DEFINE DEVCLASS, DEFINE
LIBRARY and DEFINE DRIVE commands listed above.
2. Attempt a database restore using the 3590CLASS device
class (i.e. dsmserv restore db devclass=3590CLASS)
.
This problem has been seen on AIX and Solaris with the TSM 3.7.x
and 4.1.x
We are running 4.2.1.9. For 3494 libraries it is
necessary to define a manual library.

Kirsten

Hi Kirsten
Have you had a look at your devcnfg file? Because the problem that is
described in your mail looks like it cannot define the 3590 drive. This is
probably because the devices in y
