We well knew at nscp that having the servers overloaded on release day
would generate buzz and a bump in stock price. It was a huge debate
between marketing, sales and engineering as to how well I would let the
servers respond on release day.

There is some speculation (conspiracy theories?) that this was
intentional to drive up media visibility on launch day. All of my
devices are now connecting without issue.
