find
laptops with an Ethernet port. Even if you need a thin “ultrabook” style
laptop, I’ve seen those with Ethernet ports that flip down a little, so it can
be done.

I agree with you Justin. I've had Macbooks now going back about 8 years. I
feel like they are the best laptop on the market hands down. No ethernet is
annoying cause you have to carry around a thunderbolt adapter but other
than that I have no complaints..

FWIW, I think a lot more has to do with CPU. Anything that's 3rd gen core i5 or

Many folks look at the Apple line as expensive. I have a 2008 Macbook pro that
has been my daily laptop since I bought it. Has been at tower sites, etc. Mine
is a full size 15” MacBook Pro. If you are looking for a field laptop I would
suggest a macbook air.

I buy most of the laptops I need from www.powernotebooks.com. They're
the same laptops that Dell, HP, etc, sell but without the branding on.
They generally come branded with a Chinese company (Sager, etc)
Upside is you can customize the internals pretty much how you want, and

The Thinkpad contoured keys are nice, the trackpads are hit or miss depending
on model. I like the keyboard and trackpad on my 5 year old Sony VAIO Z-series,

Ever since I started using Thinkpads I haven't gone back. They're not as
durable as a Toughbook, but they're the best quality/durability for the price
that I've found.
