I am just wondering if you guys have setup zimbra for email server? If so what
kind of hardware/software you guys using for it? I am trying to get away from
iredmail setup and I seen zimbra on what I am looking for an mail server.

Give zimbra lots of memory, the more the merrier. It doesn’t like less than 4G.
Couple cores on a xeon works fine. The setup wizard is annoying. If your DNS
isn’t dialed, you may pull your hair out until you understand they want it a
very specific way. Nothing wrong with that, just very unforgiv
ources and updates
and upgrades can take a while depending on your system.

Zextras does all of that too. You can recover mailboxes and it zips up entire
backups whenever you want and I just rsync off. Zextras was expensive for sure.
