It shoud not. I would agree though they had to do some kind of conversion on
it to loose it. Its not part of the standard partition. So if they
"converted" the data format I'm sure it would loose it.

I think you have to buy a new license unless the VM provider can figure
out what changed.
I had a Mikrotik x86 version licensed and running on a VM.
My VM provider moved the VM to another server
