You just need to follow the calculations in the Transformer to verify
my statement.

Note that I avoided the word "understand" in my post, and, instead, used
the word "comprehend". Others have brought in the notion of "value" to the
notion of "understanding"; they bring up "relevance" to one's "goals" etc.
I suppose, therefore, one might say that one achieves "understanding" when
Ok but better make it really intuitive cuz I'm already getting the
not-intuitive feeling. IOW kinda like that page that explains GPT real good,
it, didn't, remarkably, despite all those kindergarten images. And he thinks he
did a real good job!
In my AGI work there is 2 things there,

In fact my theory does not make use of category theory in any
significant way... not even

"To *understand* a concept or statement" = thing
"is to determine its relevancy or
Here's my crack at it:
To *understand* a concept or statement is to determine its relevancy or
relationship to one's personal goals, experiences, or world-model.
I recently read this paper and thought it was pretty interesting (and a
relatively easy read):
Thanks James and Immortal. My plan is for the group to discuss the
highlights of pretty much each definition of understanding I
accumulate (details forthcoming)...

I.e. not so much is it about what you understand, but rather what you already
know (memories to match).

@JB, knowing all of pi would be useful. Knowing how to program an algorithm
that generates all of pi for you would be useful too (the inventor probably is
a handy smart guy, hence is doing better that some other cave man). Both are
goodeither way you know the patterns and have some answers,
Let's take an autistic savant who memorizes the digits of pi to a million
decimal places as an example of someone who "knows pi" but does not
"comprehend pi".
Let's now take Archemedies who described a method of finding the digits of
pi by construction of regular polygons, to any desired degree
My definition of "understanding":
In this universe, there is things/ problems/ states, and you can't "know" how
to solve them i.e. what will happen after thing_1 (ex. 1>2/3/4), and pick which
future you want (1>69), unless you are dealing with patterns. So to solve a
state is to know what
Anyone read this and have thoughts on it?

You've got an opinion. We all do!
I'm doing a survey of opinions about "understanding" for the meetup
-->
https://www.meetup.com/Northwest-Artificial-General-Intelligence-Meetup-Group/
2 events are envisioned this summer:
1) Survey -- discuss tribal opinions in the AGI community as well as
we can truly call them a cadet academy now lol
