Thank you very much for an exhaustive breakdown of this issue! Your
assistance has been truly helpful!
I am aware that this burst stuff should be enabled on the 2.6 kernel,
however I am still getting bad results.
The 06 to 04 may be the critical element as even when I have everything

Hi all!
I've just achieved a first milestone in fixing (fighting?) this issue. I've
been in close correspondence with the notebook manufacturer (Arima --
notebook is eMachines M6807) and here's what I found out so far.
(this should be especially valuable for the linux-pcmcia people, Russel are

I reported this bug long ago as #81 and it remains unchanged.
In case anyone cares and is capable of figuring out what's happening,
my Thinkpad's audio still doesn't restore properly after APM suspend.
I'm using kernel 2.6.5, hence the most current released drivers.

Thats it. No error message, nothing recorded, just immeadiately exits.

Hi,
Please apply the following patch. It was designed against linux-2.6.5,
but applies cleanly against alsa-driver-1.0.4 this way:
cd alsa-driver-1.0.4/alsa-kernel/pci
zcat /path/to/my/patches/aureal-2.6.5.diff.gz |patch -p3
It fixes some bugfixes, and adds more info to the Kconfig file.

Whats the word on this patch? Does something need to change? Is it ok
as is?

Hi All,
i'm using an open source VoIP application with the
alsa driver. My card is the onboard intel8x0.
My problem is figuring out the patterns I am
getting with the alsa driver when transmitting
packets.
For instance when I use the GSM codec with a packets
size of 80 msecs and 132 bytes,
Just to see if it was me doing something wrong I've installed Mandrake
10 and Alsa, both of which use alsa and neither of which are producing
any sound in my speakers.
Since oss works, I'd have to say there is a problem in the snd-intel8x0
that hasn't been resolved since at least 1.0.2.
I've als

It happens because aplay can't send audio data as fast as the card needs it.

Hi All,
with the ALSA driver, what do the OSS substream
mean?If you have a 2 main capture channels, how many
substream would you have?
Also the capture stream is supposed to operate at 8000
Hz per second. Is it possible that it is actually say
8192, a value to the power-of-two?

Hi,
I'm using Linux 2.6.5 and the driver snd_trident. When I suspend to
disk (echo -n 4 > /proc/acpi/sleep) and resume again, the sound driver
won't work any more. It will work again after running rmmod
snd_trident;modprobe snd_trident. However, to do so I have to kill all
programs using sound (i.e
Hi,
I have some problems with 6 channel sis 7012 device - I'm using it as 3
stereo channels. I trigger 3 different instances of aplay at once and I get
underrun messages from aplay.
What does this mean ?
How to solve this (bigger buffer? ) ?
It sounds like it is interleaved in short chunks (all
