Hi,
A quick rundown, I've the Audiophile 2496 card and
it works fine under Win. I'm running SuSE 7.3 which correctly picked out the
right driver. I'm onto the next bit, trying to get the envy24control panel to
work. At this point, I should point out I am new to Linux, however, before any

I think you guys are just suffering from latency spikes.
Three suggestions:
A) user a bigger buffer (check manual for your app
to see if it can do this).
B) Run the task with higher than normal priority.
e.g.:
$ sudo nice -10 mpg123 blah.mp3
C) Use a low-latency kernel and a

I have successfully compilied ALSA for 2.4.16 on several occaisons. I
believe you need a kernel source tree from which the running kernel was
configured/built. Have you actually built the kernel from that source tree?

Hi,
I'm having the same problem you describe in mpg123. Everything worked
well with Alsa and ymfpci but now when I got a Hoontech DSP2000 I have
exactly the same problems as you.
However, to me it seems like disc activity or high processor load
doesn't trigger the problem. Changing from an emp

I put the card in a slot that doesn't share its IRQ with
anything else and now I can see irq10 in /proc/interrupts reserved
for it. Altough I still have the same problem. My bios setting

Hi
Is it possible to compile alsa for 2.4 kernels? When ever i try and
compile alsa-drivers i get:
checking for kernel version... The file
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h does not exist.
it is looking in the correct place for the kernel source but the source
doesn't contain a file call
Do you have an existing alsa or oss/free? If so, you might try removing
those modules before you do the insmod. lsmod to get the list of modules
then use rmmod -r on the head module to remove the relevant modules.

Hi,
we're trying to install alsa 0.9-12 here. All modules appear to load
correctly (lsmod looks the same as other maschines we've got here with working
sound), but aplay fails with

Unknown PCM default.

I have a Hammerfall Lite on a RedHat6.2 system. The problem I have is
how to get to play a stereo file. I get one channel on the S/PDIF but
nothing on the other one. I do not use the ADAT interface at present
-- nothing to attach it too -- but I would like to hear both channels

Dear Jaroslav,
I was just wondering if there was any progress

Hi,
I am trying to configure the alsa packages in a RH7.2 linux box. But I
can't have them working.
I compiled and installed the drivers, libs and utils. The sound card is an

More info on this problem. I found two applications that
make this problem almost unbeareable, if I run mplayer with
oss output pluging, then the sound click/pops all the time
and it's the same if I run tribes2. I think what might be
common to those two application is that they probably use
