Thanks to all who have replied to my questions. It appears that since I am
using the .5xx version of alsa I am going to have to upgrade to the .9xx
version.
Is there an easy way to do this with Mandrake 8.2 because when I try and
un-install the .5xx version via the Software Mangaer, it want's
I don't have a snd-mixer loaded (only snd-mixer-oss) and my native alsa
mixers all work fine (gamix, alsamixer, amixer). I think the problem your
having must be elsewhere.

Yes I did get that message and have tried both the alsa mixer and the Envy

They are unmuted and at full gain, including the master,
It seems I am getting an error message with aplay that states:

During installation, you should have gotten a message that
ALSA drivers are muted by default. Did you check that?
Try installing envy24control from the alsa-tools package,

Hi,
I have been trying for a while to get a Midiman Delta 66 to work with the
alsa drivers.
I have tried various distributions all with the same results, the card loads

I first booted my new kernel, I don't think I was getting

modules like lirc or vmware or bttv that things started to
get bad, but I ca

the ice1712.c file to make it see my 1010lt as a 1010.
