What kernel version are you running?
2.4.18
What version of ALSA are your RPMs? 0.5.x or 0.9.x?
A CVS Version from 23.0
I downloaded and installed the modules, did a modprobe snd-ens1371 and fired up
alsaplayer (after recompiling) and the sound is horrible. Many, many pops and
cracks and the tempo is too slow. The same is true if I load the oss driver and
try it in XMMS.
The .5.x versions seem to work ok with alsa
I have bad feeling about compiling kernel, (due 100% failure..). But
when I get some Time, I'l give it a try.

this is, what I call "memory dump", not a problem with alsa-drive, it a problem with a
configuration of the kernel.
when I bouth my new laptop i had the same problem.
To resolve this problem you have to recompile the kernel and maybe you have to disable
the apic (advance Programer Interrupt con
I dont understand? you have to reinstall the drive with make install
I also try with new redhat and for me works fine the alsa-0.9.0rc1

Please could you download "ksymoops" from:
ftp://ftp..kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kernel/ksymoops
If you pipe your oops data through it, it should give a proper stack
trace of the crash, which will help the developer
Hello,
I recently bought a Terratec dmx 6fire 24/96 which uses an ice1712
chipset. This sound card has (at least) 4 stereo input sources, but I
found no way for switching between them.
Does anyone know whether the driver supports switching the input source
(and possibly how this can be done :-)
I hit "send" too early.. here is attachment.
Andres.

Hello!
I up/downgraded my "old" Linux Mandrake 8.0 to newer RedHat 7.3 In RH
there is no build in ALSA support. Unfortunate, I have soundcard, that
requiers ALSA support (even RH suggsest to use that). Well, then. I
downloaded latest tarballs (bz2balls ;) and made all that cool configure

Has anybody had problems with RH 7.3 and ALSA modules
particularly VIA686a.
Everything worked well on 7.2 but seems to break now
with lots of unresolved symbols following the modprobe.
I can post the procedure I used (same was successful
with 7.2) and stderr output if interested.
Hi everybody
I have a problem with my ess-1869 (compaq armada 3500), I'm using kernel 2.4.18
and ALSA 0.9.0rc1, my modules.conf looks like this:
#ALSA Configuration
alias char-major-116 snd
options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1
alias snd-card-0 snd-es18xx
options snd-es18xx snd_port=0x220
Well, I upgrade my kernel to 2.4.18, I upgrade ALSA to the last version available, but
after that work, the original problem remains the same, I still can't play wavs or
mp3, because once the card start to play it enters in an infinite loop. I don't know
what else I can do. Any ideas?
Thanks i
