I upgraded to SuSE 8.0 last night, moving to kernel 2.4.18-4GB
and alsa 0.9.0 cvs20020320-12. Audio playback works fine, but
line-in recording now suffers severe distortion. Not amplitude
distortion--it sounds like a sped-up recording of an AM radio
station tuned in single sideband mode. I tr

I have been trying to get alsamixergui working, but I really don't
expect that it will address our concerns.
So as far as what I reported before, is this a bug with Alsa? Or is
there some FAQ or manual page I can read to correct these issues? Again
any help would be appreciated.

On Wed,
OK, I copied the example to modules.conf. There seemed to be a problem
with the snd_enble_midi option:

I'm trying to get a Zoltrix Nightingale card with the optical IO
daughtercard to work in a RedHat 7.3 system. I've compiled and
installed 0.9.0rc1.
My modules.conf file looks like:
alias eth0 3c59x
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx
alias char-major-116 snd
alias c
I have configured alsa-driver 0.9.0rc1 with kernel 2.4.18, and snd-emu10k1
module now loads OK, as shown by lsmod. However, there is no sound.
I have run alsamixer and unmuted the master and master mono channels, and
saved the configuration with alsactl. The only message in /var/log/messages

Hi, I can't get alsa 0.9.0rc1 to work on my mandrake 8.2 system. My
