I did some more research and found what I think is a reasonable
kernel combo with the premptable low latency option. Based on...
KERNEL=linux-2.4.18.tar.bz2
PATCH1=patch-2.4.19-rc1.bz2
PATCH2=patch-2.4.19-rc1-ac1.bz2
PATCH3=preempt-kernel-rml-2.4.19-rc1-ac1-1.patch

That sounds like you're still using the 0.5 utils with the 0.9 modules.
Download and install the 0.9RC2 -lib and -utils packages.

No I use it normally here even with:

Capabilities : -headphone out-
DAC resolution : 16-bit
ADC resolution : 16-bit
3D enhancement : Analog Devices Phat Stereo

Dear all,
I am having great difficulty understanding what I need to do in order to
enable the MIDI (soundfont) device in the Emu10k1.
What do I need to set up, and what modules are required?
Are there any documents specific to the Emu10k1 and this subject on the net
anywhere?
Also, I cannot

Are you running an SMP kernel? I'm using 0.9RC2 with an emu10k1 here on
a straight 2.4.18 system, and it's

about reversed/already-patched modules), and then tried compiling

FWIW: I had some trouble recently with sound support built in.
after some back-and-forth emails with Takashi, the problem
evaporated

I quickly checked the mail archives, but didn't find anything relevant
about this topic, though I think it has been asked before.
I installed Alsa-0.9.0-RC2 on system (RedHat 7.2) with Creative vibra 16
and used Alsa's SB16 driver. THe problem is that when one program uses the

Hi all,
I try to play with my microphone attached to my intel810 soundsystem. But
even with 100% mic volume and +20db gain it is too silent. Is this a known
problem of the I810 Chipset ???

Hi all,
I try to use a programm which demands a sampling rate of 16KHz from the
soundsystem. Setting the device to 32 or 44 KHz works but setting the
device to 16KHz result in switching back to 48KHz. I updated to the latest
CVS Version of Alsa Kernel drivers. Is this a bug or does my intel8x0

That msg comes from libasound.so Just trace the execution of alsamaixer.
I don't think it is a device/permission problem. Perhaps alsa.conf is
not found?

Hi!
Well, I seem to have got ALSA running to an extent on my Debian box, using
the 0.9beta11 packages in debian/testing... I've compiled the modules from
the alsa-source package and installed the modules (using make-kpkg) under
/lib/modules/2.4.17/misc, and I am able to play music through XMMS, u
