Hammerfall cards, two through the ADAT outs, and one
using S/PDIF, though I have not had any issues in
either case since ALSA 0.9beta11 or so. And the fact
that you are getting sound from some apps and in some

perhaps mpu401 works independently from via8233.
please try snd-mpu401 driver additionally with a proper irq.

I can use timidity to play MIDI files, and mpg123 to hear MP3. Aplay
works for mono files at 44100 Hz.
