Try using a "normal" mixer program like xmix. Since rc3 alsa doesn't
seem to store and restore the mixer s

To all,
I have newly installed Linux and got ALSA rocking, however, on my i8x0
based soundcard, it plays double speed (well, quicker than it should).
Is there any known course of action to fix this?
Thanks,

hi paul,
unfortunately in my case /proc/asound exists but /dev/snd does not.
this means i have to create it every time i restart due to it

Hi,
I have strange problems with my Terratec Sound Card (On card is signed:

After a Kernel compiling for my scanner it won't work(Sound modular

installed them without problems!! The prob:
Hello!
I've been trying to install the Alsa 0.9.0rc5 packages, and it
successfully compiled and seems to have successfully installed (at least
avview detects the card and alsamixer works), and when I run xmms or mpg123
there are no errors.
However, I get no sound at all. I have unmuted everythin
Hi Marcia -
Before doing all of that, try one more thing. My
Mandrake 9 modules.conf has a much different layout
than what I am used to seeing on the alsa-project
page. For my rme9652 it says only:
alias sound-slot-0 snd-rme9652
above snd-rme9652 snd-pcm-oss
...which works like a charm.

Hello there,
i'm going to buy a board with onboard via8235 sound. Anyone got experience

the latest via chipset thats supported seems to be via8233a (which is found
on KT333 boards). Will I run into trouble with ALSA b

Dear All,
I am considering uninstalling alsa so that I can install and use the
commerical OSS drivers. They worked well for me in 8.2, but of course so
did alsa. Oh well. Anyway, I just have not been able to find the answers
to getting my sound to work right so far with alsa so I am giving up.

I checked out from CVS but couldn't find alsa-driver/configure.
I think it's ./cvscompile.

Dear All,
I have changed my /etc/modules.conf as suggested but no change. I could
not get any sound at all with arts enabled in the sound server. I
decided to disable it and then I got the repetitive sound again for
system sounds. Midi and mp3 players do not work. With the arts enabled
midi plays

beim compilieren der quelldateien leuft irgendwas schief, bei ./configure leuft
noch alles glatt, aber mit make kriege ich dann folgendes resultat:
