a question about alsamixer.
I have modules loaded and have cranked up all the
alsamixer settings but dont have sound...maybe because
in the Item: section next to each category is [off]
example Master [off]
master digital [off]
master digital 1 [off]
etc... is there a way to change off to [on],
quick question:
after compiling alsa-drivers,lib, and utils..
when I want to insert modules should I be inputting
something other modprobe snd-cs4236 (snd-cardname)
since `snd_` has been depredated should I instead
input modprobe cs4236???

Hi everyone!
I'm looking for a nice documentation of the midi-sequencer programming of
alsa. I know there's one of Matthias Nagorni, which is a good point to start.
Yet I don't remember where to find that one. But is there an alsa intern
documentation of all (or most) of the midi-sequencer librar
Can anybody please tell whether it's possible to make audio input in G4

That was the missing thing. I don't know why I had to add it, but know it
works. Thanks for the help
Hi there,
I've got a Soundblaster Live soundcard, model name "Live Player 5.1"
here in europe. I'm wondering if it supports spdif input or more
correctly spdif passthrough. I'm trying to route spdif signal from a
dvb-c card through my sb live soundcard. There is a two-pin connector on

Hi!
I had the same problem. You need to install your kernel sources (from your
mandrake cds). Then you should look if you can find a configuration for your
kernel. I'm using suse and there they are in /boot. There is something like
vmlinuz.config. I usually copy that to /usr/src/liux/.config. I t
I have exactly the same problem on mandrake 9.1 and alsa 0.9.6. i can
load alsamixer, modules are loaded, channels are unmuted but still no sound!
I had to compile with --disable-verbose-printk to get it work.
I was running 0.9.0 before without problems except some sound quality
issues.

How do I check whether or not the card is in use by something else?
I had unmuted the channels originally, but when I went back in to
alsamixer, they were muted again. Is there a way to save those settings
so they don't revert on a reboot?

Hi All,
I have a Dell Dimension 4300 PC with RH9 installed on it.
I wouldn't probaly send this email is the OSS drivers will work for
capture.
I recently installed a Pincle miroPCTV board to watch TV and I'm trying
to use it as a PVR as well.
Then my problems begin to come up. I didn't care tha

I verified: all modules are loaded, i have no error message, alsa mixer is
working and
the channels are not muted...
but my Mandrake is still quiet! :-) (I have also windows xp and the sound is

You have to patch to the kernel source first. The patches in
alsa-driver/utils/patches don't apply cleanly to the latest 2.4.x
versions, however (a small change in the Makefile II
