help, i resently install slackware 9.1 on my toshiba satellite 1715XCDS laptop. every thing works great except i cannot get any sound coming out of the speakers or headphones. I know alsa is installed because i saw it on the install screen on slake. I see these messages when i boot up slack:

Hello, I have a problem with my ALSA sound. When I play sound in X windows it is terribly distorted at times. But when I play using the console, the playback is just fine. The kernel is 2.6.0-test9-mm2 on a VT8235 based motherboard (Epox EP-8K9A) with a Realtek ALC650 onboard soundcard.

Hi All! I'm wrtiting to ask something about audio quality. The output of my soundcard goes directly to the hi-fi but I feel the quality of the sound really low.. With the same hi-fi I listen to music with a cd player and the quality is quite good, is it possible to reach a similar result?
