being still a bit of a beginner i can't give general advice, but in my
case m-audio Fast Track USB for 111 euro, wich is not explicit listed in
the alsa soundcard matrix, works well with the snd-usb ALSA-driver.
It has only one mono mic/line input and stereo outputs, ubuntu and
DeMu

Can anybody recommend an affordable USB soundcard that works well with
ALSA? I read on alsa-project.org/alsa-doc that " All USB devices that
are standards compliant will work." -- is that really the case? So I can
just get ANY mainstream USB soundcard and it'll (most probably) work?
