How would I define one ALSA device (eg pcm.!default) to accept both 2-
and 6-channel input?
My application may need to play both 2- and 6-channel media, and I can
only define one ALSA device. I obviously want all 6 channels to be

I have solved this problem by adding model=vaio to the options of the
sound module snd_hda_intel.
Now i can see various other capture devices and both the headphones and
mic work perfectly.
The only small niggle that remains is that the onboard volume control
now modifies the volume of my Capt
