Hi, and thanks for the reply :)
It seems odd that m-A would use a different dB scale for the Front channels and
all the other channels.
But it would not be inconsistent with the way the devices are reported in Linux.
device hw:0,0,0 is the two front channels
hw0,1,0 is the sp/dif
hw0,2,0 through
No idea about your hardware, but the claim is that alsa simply reports to
the user what the hardware reports to it. If the hardware says that a
certain control is PCM, then PCM it is. If the hardware reports a Master
Volume, then that is what you get.
On windows, the driver might well report somet

I am cross posting this because I am not sure which list it belongs to.

Hi there,
I have some problems with the snd-hda-intel driver. The mixer controls
seem to be unpredictably appearing and disappearing from alsa-driver
version to version. In the current daily snapshot (12th Sept 2008) I
have no volume control at all. In the driver shipped with 2.6.25 kernel

As stated in my first post, the hardware works on stuff I can direct to that
port. I need a working asound.conf so programs that I can't do that with and
only use the default port will work. So far 3 forums and Google hasn't gotten
me there yet which is frustrating to no end as I would have fi
I have no idea how to do it within the config file. You can google for
that. But first check that it works when you use mplayer:
mplayer -ao alsa:device=hw=0.2 blah.mp3
You might need to resample to 48K, not sure about it:
mplayer -srate 48000 -ao alsa:device=hw=0.2 blah.mp3
If this still doesn't w
Ok I'm going to sound stupid here, but how?
The software I'm using doesn't have an option to choose the alsa device. How
do you do this in the asound.conf?
Thanks for the help so far, this list is pretty much my last hope.

Try setting alsa device to plughw:0,2 or hw:0,2 when playing. Did it work?
