. No audio on
youtube videos :) But, I was sure it was working yesterday.
So, since the card is being found, and working, I'm assuming some minor
config issues. If we can get this sorted out, I'll next ask if using the
S/PDIF out is possible.
Thanks!

up in /proc/asound. The card is found by the hardware: alsaconf
works and finds the onboard (disabled) audio and the 2496 card. Things
appear to load? I'm at a complete loss as to what to do next. I'm
guessing that some init file is buggered? Or maybe the card died?
Thanks.

I decided to reinstall my OS yesterday ( a long story, but it wasn't due

All seems to be working, except audio.
I have maudio audiophile 2496 card, Mandriva 2007, alsa 1.0.12.

How can I confirm that the line has actually taken effect?
Look into /proc/asound/timers when some MIDI is playing.
bob$ cat timer
Timer for queue 0 : RTC timer
Period time

I recently installed a M-Audio Audiophile 2496 in machine running Mandriva 2006.
All, including MIDI, runs just fine. But, it appears that I can only listen to
a single stream at one time.
I _think_ that it has something to do with the setup of either the
/etc/asound.state or the .asoundrc

Hi Bob. I'd try adding the following 2 option lines to

options snd-via82xx index=0
options snd-usb-audio index=1
Tried and failed :)
But, thanks for the try. Sigh

I'm quite sure that my GUS worked with ALSA 9.x with Jazz++.
I'm note sure if this is a ALSA version

is midi so unsupported in linux. Opps, I'm ranting...sorry.

The other point of interest, to me, is that no DMA seems to be assigned.
Do PCI cards not use DMA? Or do I need to set something from BIOS?
