I've also tested two audio devices with alsa-1.0.17 on Ubuntu 8.10,
still can't play sound on two devices concurrently.
I can play sound on each device at a time, but don't work on both at the
same time.

I'd try my best in setup alsa in my laptop (HP Pavilion tx 1000),
however snd-hda-intel simply doesn't work, no matter I put options
model=hp, model=3stack.
By the way, I only can boot my kernel with noapic or noacpic + irqpoll
I use Ubuntu 7.10 64bit, there is many information in ubuntu
