2009-10-29 Thread Tom Jewell
Hi - I have an MSI Wind U123 netbook, which although it does not have physical spdif in and out connectors, has a Realtek ALC888S codec with spdif in and out available on pins 47 and 48. I want to make the U123 usable with spdif, so I have connected an optical (TOSLINK) transmitter to pin 48

It is still not working with the latest ALSA driver - 19 february 2009 (and everything else from GIT snapshot directory). Also, I think the snd-hda-intel model's default is at "auto" so no need to force it in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base file. I've send a bug ticket on alsa bug tracking system at

Hello, Yes, I came back to the original version of alsa on Ubuntu (1.0.17). I also tried the version 1.0.19 without success. I'll try the snapshot but tell me if I can use alsa-tools and alsa-utils with older version than the snapshot is. I don't see any alsa-tools included in the snapshot. Th

Hello, Thank you for helping me. This is an input bracket that is directly plugged to the motherboard (3 pins connector). It is made by Giga-byte. The motherobard version is GA-EG43-S2H. I tested some options parameters in the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base file like options snd-hda-intel model=6

Hello, After updating alsa drivers and other packages from 1.0.17 to 1.0.19, I finally got the SPDIF output working. Unfortunatly, the SPDIF INPUT is not working. There is simply no sound at all (not even a little noise). Here is the output of arecord -L: default:CARD=Intel HDA Intel, AL
