Hello everybody.
Sorry! That "HELP" i posted earlier was a little accident - please ignore it.

Greetings.
I currently run Amanda with a 15-day dump cycle, Mon-Fri, called
"DailySet1".
I want to know if it's possible to do the following:
1. Make DailySet1 only run Mon-Thur;
2. Create a "WeeklySet1", with a 5-tape rotation, scheduled for Fridays,
doing a level 0 on all filesystems.

1) Yes, you can run two schedules, just don't send requests from both at the
same time. AMANDA clients assume that they are only talking to one server at
a time. `cp -r /amanda/Config1/* /amanda/Config2/` or so.
2) FAQ-O-Matic, flaky but informative:

I just pitched a proposal to a client that is purchasing a Macintosh
X-Serve. A tape changer drive is a bit pricey for their tastes, so they
chose to go with a pair of large firewire hard drives that I take off site
every few days.
What I'm trying to decide is which would be more simple. A cron

Rsync works great for this. I am using it currently to mirror about
half a terrabtye and still
working on Amanda to dump it to tape.

We're doing it for off-site backup purposes.
I've gotten a lot of input on this, thanks all who responded. My questions
have been answered.

p.s. not to say I won't ask more sometime in the future! :)

the amanda changer is middle-ware between the amanda software such as

Hello,
The Amanda core team is pleased to announce the release of Amanda
2.4.3b4. It is the forth beta release of 2.4.3. All known bugs
are fixed.
I would like that as many people as possible test it. I will
release it as 2.4.3 if no bug are found.
It can be dowloaded from http://www.amanda.or
Hello list
I am running amanda 2.4.2p2 on freebsd
4.6.2.
I am trying to get this changer stuff working but I
am having some problems.
If i run form the /amanda/conf/dir
/usr/local/libexec/chg-zd-mtx -info or whatever command they
all work fine. The output from each is
correct accordi
I would recommend not trying to debug the changer stuff from way up
on high in AMANDA, but to debug at the command line by running the
changer script directly... The ./docs/TAPE.CHANGERS document will
guide you with the syntax to do this on the CL.
If you have not already made all of AMANDA o
You are correct. I have been testing the chg-zd-mtx from the CL. Not
inside amanda and
so far everything is working correctly. The only command that is hanging is
the loading of a tape
ie. /usr/local/libexec/chg-zd-mtx -slot 6
will actually load the tape but never exit or give me an exit stat
