Let's solve this a problem at a time...Does mtx work with the device?
What device are you using for the changer (/dev/sg0)? What does
"loaderinfo /dev/sg0" give (substitute your changer info for /dev/sg0)?
You need to make sure that mtx actually gives you the changer info,
status, etc before yo

Could you change the first line of libtool to use ksh instead of sh?
I'm using /bin/sh
First line libtool:
#! /sbin/sh
Echo in libtool:
# An echo program that does not interpret backslashes.
echo="print -r"
What's the relationship between the libtool above & "./configure
--disable-libtool" which is how I ran configure ( and user, group,etc. )

Aloha,
I've installed the amanda on linux 7.2 from the
rpms that came with the os.
I'm unable to make the chg-zd-mtx changer script
work with mtx.
I've tried both mtx.1.2.13 and mtx.1.2.17 - they
both say this:
Anybody got a clue as to why I get the 'badly
formed result from changer' error?
Anyone have a tapetype for the Overland LoaderXpress LTO?
It also goes under the Seagate Viper2000 badge.
Its a 11 slot Ultrium LTO based on the Seagate Drive
and Overland Changer.
For now, Im trying the HP LTO tapetype.
thanks
pete
If you are indeed using iptables, look into the DNAT and SNAT
components...they are very useful for what you want to do. Amanda has a
more or less (if compiled that way) set range of ports used that is
fairly well documented. Used in conjunction with *NAT options it should
allow you to do wha

That would only allow connections back in, but that

they can given the NAT situation. Let me clarify:

Sees tape server as nated 9.x.x.x
Can you break up the stuff into subdirectories, or
files that are less than 1 tape?
i.e.
/bigparition might be 1 TB
but you might have:
filea < 1 tape
fileb < 1 tape
filec < 1 tape
etc etc
As long as you can, you should be able to use tar with
amanda, exclude certain files, and backup the ones
I am using mtx from sourceforge, which uses 'status'
and the chg-zd-mtx script. I am not sure about the
one with 7.2.

Hi all, I've been tasked with coming up with a backup solution that can deal
with 3 terabytes of storage.
It may not all need backing up at once, and it's split between three servers
about a terabyte each (I think).
It has to be unattended (Assuming enough stackers-n-tapes) - The question I
have i
Hi tobias,
Which shell are you using?
What's the first line of libtool?
What's the value of 'echo' in the libtool program?

I'm not an expert in UFS, but could the drive be getting fragmented? Are
you running with compression, and could the data in the database be
getting more chaotic, thus increasing the size (as well as the time to
compress) of the compressed file?
