After searching around in the FAQ-O-MATIC, current projects page, and in
the mailing list archives, I believe what I understand is that:
- the largest filesystem backed up must be smaller than the size of
the tapes used (possibly after compression is considered)
- amanda can't do hardw

Hi
I'm running Amanda 2.4.3 under RH8 backing up a few Linux boxes. This runs
well.
I now would like to add some of my W2K machines to the backup.
As per the instructions -
I recompiled Amanda with --with-smbclient --user-amanda --group-disk
I created a amanda user with appropriate rights on the W2

happened a couple of times I cleaned it even though the light wasn't on.

Hi,
thank you for your first answer.
One question again:
Amanda creates the files in the holding disk, when does Amanda begin to write it
out to tape?
When the first file is created or when all files are created?
In the first case, there can be a short time period where the tape has to be

I've just updated my amanda server to version 2.4.3, and adjusted the
config for new options etc. Notably, I've inserted the new "optional"
keyword into my exclude list spec as exclude lists won't always exist.
After this, I get a lot of:

GB is not a rate, it's a size. I assume you mean GB/hour?

This is also interesting in this context, although probably not exactly

Hello there,
I've managed to get a tapeless backup running OK on 2.4.3 on RedHat 7.2 (and GNUTAR
1.13.19) but when I try an amrecover extract I get the following messages:
[QUOTE]
EOF, check amidxtaped.debug file on pc3690.asm.psi.ch.
amrecover: short block 0 bytes
UNKNOWN file
amrecover: Can't
I've been successfully using amanda for over a year now and all of a sudden it's all
screwed up!
I'm using amanda 2.4.2p2 on a RH7.2 box.

Hi,
we have an HP Surestore dlt vs80e and use hp dlt IV tapes (capacity
40/80GB) under linux.
But the backup is to slow, we should have a backup rate of 10.8 GB
(native)/20.6 (comprimized), but we do not have :-(
So i have some questions, to which i did not find answers until now!
In the file tap

I was told in very similar circumstances that `amadmin
no-reuse ' was made exactly for this case.
