MegaThanks to all who answered.
I'm not sure why it started working, but I think the problem had to do with
xinetd, not amanda at all. When emerge built amanda, it put a "from-only
localhost" in /etc/xinet.c/amanda. I changed that to the fqdn of th

Use changer script chg-multi, like this:

I can't believe that there is some firewall in the way, so I ran ethereal on both ends and came up
with the same set of packets. I have the data part of those packets below. Notice how the last three
pairs of packets are exactly the same. I also noted that the first six packets happened within tw

Howdy all,
I'm using Amanda with a Dell PV120T tape library, which has a DTL 4000
drive capable of writing 20GB uncompressed data to each tape. I have a
directory that's currently tipping the scales at 30GB, and is only going
to get larger. Normally, I would look into splitting this backup ap

Hello Paul,
Hello Stefan,
thx for your statements. I think I will try to install and configure
amanda for myself. In two weeks I will be on holliday and then I'll have
enough time to try the installation and configuration of amanda.
If I am in trouble, I will send an email to this list.
