One important step wrt to amanda on solaris 7 (and 9 for that matter)
is that the sun shipped tar is broken, you will need to compile gnu
tar 1.13.25 or higher to make tar
based backups work.

I am using amanda to backup several hosts. amcheck runs fine, reporting
no errors. However, the report of the dump says otherwise. From 6 hosts
one host always times out with amdump NOT amcheck.
