You could manually edit the tapelist file so that the tape is on the
last line with the oldest date - or remove its line all together.

I know. (Sorry for the direct email). If you look at my paste, you'll
see that its amandad that's failing. Any ideas as to why? I have
thoroughly checked /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf before running
inetconv.

Make sure you have Amanca client configured on the server.

however I got an error “No index records for host:.
Have you enabled indexing?” How do I fix this? How do I enable indexing?
Thank you. Lei
I am trying to configure amanda on a Solaris 10 server that will backup
only itself. When I run amcheck, I get:
selfcheck request timed out. Host down?
svcs shows:
online 11:05:10 svc:/network/amidxtape/tcp:default
online 11:05:10 svc:/network/amandaidx/tcp:default
maintenance 11:07:05 svc:/netwo

Hello,
Trying to get amanda running. I noticed that my /dev/sg devices are
disappearing after a reboot. I'm on centos 3.4 (RHEL clone)
For now, I have to run MAKDEV sg as root after every reboot which is a pain.
The sg module seems to be loaded. If I do an lsmod | grep sg I see it.
Any help app
I'm not sure, but you might need to add user 'amanda' to your server and/or
client. And check permissions.
Just my 2 cents...

the .amandahosts should be something like
server.domain.co.uk root
server.domain.co.uk amanda
odd output from netstat -a, this shouldn't respond until you 'ping' the
appropriate port..
also check the logs (usually /tmp/amanda for any clues, as well as
making sure the amanda in /etc/xinet.d
Hi I added the files amanda and amandaix to /etc/xinetd.d

Hi I have a standalone tape server
And I haven't and not running xinet.d services when I built amanda it
did not build a /honme/amanda directory thus I haven't got a .amandahost
file but one does have such a file
in /var/lib/amanda/.amandahosts.rpmsave
I get this warning Amanda Backup Client Hosts
