Hi. I have a couple of questions about amanda's behavior:
The first one is, amadmin CONF tape says, in my case, something like
The next Amanda run should go onto tape ISR005 or a new tape. If I
add a new tape, say label ISR006, I guess it is automatically added to
the amanda tape list, right? My
Hi,
No problem doing amlabel ISR006 right now, amanda will let you do the backup in
ISR005 or ISR006, it is up to you.
I don't know which kind of tape you have, but in scsi tapes you cat do mt -f
/dev/nst0 compression 0 to turn hw comp off.

Might sound strange, but are you sure that you use the non-rewinding
tape-device when using amrecover?
Hi Stefan, thank

Ok ...
You restore into a temporary directory, don't you?
yes
You write, that you see the restored files in amrecover. And you see
them in

In general it is not a suprise that amanda (actually
gnutar or restore!) *removes* files when restoring.
I see
Now, do you imply that you indicated
I don't have any experience with autoloaders, so I can't tell you for sure. If
you backup fits into one tape, put only ISR005 in the autoloader today to
ensure that amanda will use that tape, and tomorrow you can put ISR006.
You can run mt -f /dev/st0 compression 0 at boot time to ensure hw

All,
I have posted a 2.5.0b1 test report on the Amanda forums here:

Anyone else using 2.5.0 beta, please post your test results, so we can smash
any bugs before the final release.

The network admin here would like to start using ACL's on some files
(Centos 4.1 a read hat 4 clone, and Red Hat 4). We use amanda (with
gnutar) I don't think gnu tar supports it (other than by using dump,
which we don't want to do for reliability reasons)
Do you know if ACL support is planned ?

Hi All,
I also encounter similar problem on RHEL 3 with ia32e and I am also using aic7xxx. I guess it is driver related problem coz I have also tried various kernel version (2.4-21-27 and also 2.4-21-32.0.1) and it did fail randomly and crashed once.
is there any ia32e mailing list ?
