My solaris machine seems to have backed up fine last night,
however, none of my holding disks were drained. I do nightly
backups to the holding disk Monday - Thursday then put in the tape
on Friday, autoflush used to take care of the rest, not so last

I think i found out the culprit to this issue. The main problem of the
GNUTAR to be in hanging state was due to the cancellation of the amdump
process during its execution. This happenned when the amdump (running)

The 160 GB external HDDs that we are currently using for backups are
getting too small, so I'm thinking about getting new bigger ones.
Would be interested to hear whether anyone has had particularily bad
(or good) experience with any of the popular brands. Thanks in advance.
