It was a fix because setting etimeout to 0 was a bug, but I forgot about
negative etimeout.
The attached patch should fix it.

Yes. only vanilla exclude is supported.
2. Should I be using ZWC templates for this instead?
There is no need to use ZWC templates for exclusion.
