Is there still nobody here who can answer my question?
As quoted from Gertjan van Oosten [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
I'm having a problem configuring Amanda-2.4.4p2 (on sun-sparc-solaris8)
to always do a full dump of a filesystem. The filesystem in question is
over 100 GByte, and no matter what I try
while
they are running, because amandad on that machine is busy until they
terminate.
I take it from your answer that there's no provision in the Amanda
protocol to communicate operation time-outs to the client then? Shame...

Anyway, thanks Christoph and Paul for their excellent suggestions;
our new Amanda setup using our new Sun StorEdge L8 autochanger is
now working properly. Time to retire the old setup and them old
DDS3 drives, I guess. :-)

:
- in theory you can get an infinite level (no limit) backup ?
In theory: yes. In practice: ufsdump limits the levels to 0 through 9.
Kind regards,

Hello Hans,
As quoted from Hans van Zijst [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
I tried a bare metal recovery yesterday,
Why didn't you just use amrecover? It prompts you to insert the right
tapes in the tape server as needed, without you having to figure it out
yourself.
Kind regards,

Hi Nicolas,
As quoted from Nicolas Ecarnot [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
On 20040402, to restore a complete system that was set up on january 1th
and crashed today, you'll have to provide :
- L0 2004
- L1 200404
- L2 20040402
Correct.
Salut,
