Forget my last message about the "info" dir

2005-09-01 Thread Guy Dallaire
I've shot myself in the foot. I know I should have named my MONTHLY config something else. It's so easy to confound DailySet1 and ArchSet1 in the messages... The message comes from my monthly config amcheck which has not run yet. Sorry again

In my amcheck log I have the following message: NOTE: info dir /disk1/amanda/db/DailySet1/curinfo/sol/_disk1_RDBMS__BACKUP: does not exist NOTE: it will be created on the next run. I've recently split the /disk1 DLE into /disk1 and /disk1/RDBMS_BACKUP DLE's (with /disk1 expluding /disk1/RDBMS_BAC

Why Oh Why only THIS DLE is giving me those timeout problems ?

2005-08-30 Thread Guy Dallaire
Again, this morning: mesg read: Connection timed out When it's not this message, it's data timeout error on the same DLE, on the same host. There are 3 other disks on this host, with not a signficant higher amount of data, and they always backup OK. This always occur on level 1 dumps it seems.

2005-08-30 Thread Guy Dallaire
If I look at the other disks log from the same server, it does not really take time to do the backup, but for my particular problem disk (/disk1) here's what I have in the sendbackp.debug log: - sendbackup: debug 1 pid 12853 ruid 555 euid 555: start at Tue Aug 30 04:39:46 200

data timeout error

2005-08-23 Thread Guy Dallaire
I still have a data timeout error for a DLE in my amanda log this morning. This is the second time this happens and this DLE is very important for us. It has to be backed up correctly. I've looked in the sendbackup.debug files on the client side and there is no error for this DLE. I asked the ne

file changed as we read it: strange

2005-07-18 Thread Guy Dallaire
This morning, amanda (2.4.5) told me that some files changed during the backup. I don't think it actually changed. Why does it mean by "changed" ? The file in question was not being written to during amanda's backup of the server, that I am sure of. I'm suspecting a file "last access time" change.

It looks like with chg-zd-mtx, amanda always grabs the first tape it sees fit, instead of taking the "expected" tape. For example, amanda is supposed to do the next dump with tape DailySet1-010, in the changer we have (in this order) DailySet1-010 DailySet1-011 DailySet1-012 Suppose the curr

The problem I encountered yesterday with one of the clients continues: amanda cannot get the estimates (and the backups) from a particular client. There seems to be some sort of networking problem. The client is in the DMZ, protected by the firewall. I even recompiled amanda to make sure it is u
