Is all of this on the server "amanda". Have you installed amanda on the
client machine. Is the client demon running on the machine "wendy"? It
needs to be mentioned in wendy:/etc/inetd.conf. If the client is not
running then amanda on the server "amanda" will not be able to
communicate with it. Al

I have installed Amanda 2.4.2p2 under Solaris 8 in a SunFire 280 machine.
I compiled Amanda with options by default and changed the default path to
--prefix=/software/amanda, so I have Amanda under
/software/amanda
I add the next lines to /etc/inetd.conf
