Just a note: It doesn't have to be the backup-server! It could be any host. E.
g. if you have a department connected through by a small bandwith, it should
be a host inside the remote

hi, what i found was that if I extract the tape file onto disk
with amrestore /dev/nst0 moa
and then
dd if=file bs=32k skip=1 of=a
and then tar xvf a it works.
I tried to combine the two commands
dd iffile bs=32k skip=1 | tar xvf
but it doesnt like it. Any suggestions here?
