How long did you use it, Gary? I've been using djbdns (tinydns as well
as dnscache) at a number of sites for probably around four years now and
have not witnessed any degradation in its performance. What did you do
to determine the cause of the degradation
Amavisd-new goes in error after a few time that it starts..
Process amavisd or process amavis-milter? Looks like the later.
It seems to me amavis-milter.. I start it through a startup script which
contains the following line...
su - ${AMAVIS_ACCOUNT} -c
Regarding the previous email.. It seems to me that the phenomeanon is verifing
while I restart sendmail (and, in general, while I start amavisd-new - and so
amavis-milter, too - and then sendmail).
Thanks,
rocsca

What it means? It is this the cause of my problems?

Sorry.
Ive seen that the limit per user is about of 1024 file descriptor (FD) opened
simultaneously (in fact, 'ulimit -n' gives 1024) while amavis user (whos
running amavis-milter) opens about 500 FD.. So is not this limit to be
overcomed.
But is the maximum number of opened FD that is

Maybe I should take a look at it... I hardly know what it is.. :)

But how do these updates take effect?
According to http://wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/RuleUpdates, SA will
use them automatically. But do I have to restart amavisd-new?
AFAIK, no. But

You must restart amavisd-new to load the new rulesets, same
as if you were using spamd to scan your mail. Both these
tools keep an in-memory copy of the rules and will not
recognize changes without a restart.
Thought so, thanks

I am running amavisd-new 2.4.2 and spamassassin 3.1.4 on OpenBSD 3.9.
I have only now discovered sa-update and would like to get it running.
I have read some posts on this list regarding how to do this but they
