While other tubes may do better, I've had good luck using AB1 807s in
VikingI/II/DX-100 class transmitters - they'll do 100% cleanly.

I have an old record player for a collector. Please don't play records on
this thing.
This is what I know about it.
It has 2 tubes, a 35W4 and a 50C5.
It has a volume and tone control with white plastic knobs.
The brand is Symphonic.
The Model is 1716.
It has 4 speeds and a 45 stack adapter
It is just amazing that those ever worked.
But they did.
It is fascinating that the cartridge could generate enough votage to drive the
50C5 to speaker volume.
I had one of those players as a kid. I used the amplifier section make my
crytal or one tube radios be heard in a speaker.

around 45 to 50 watts of audio before they start drawing grid current. In
AB2 they will produce 120 watts of audio.

That's interesting about the crystal radio because I did the same thing. I
had one of those rocket radio things where the nose cone pulled up and down
to adjust the slug in a coil. We lived about 1 mile from KILTs 5000 Watt AM
XMTR site and so that was all I could get on it. But it was very loud

Since the plate current swing is limited to not drawing grid current one

I know the VII manual sez AB2 but no way with that triode connected 6AU6
driver (AB1.25 maybe). A popular mod was to replace with a parallel connected
